our Remote Studio
What it is + How it Works
The pandemic pushed businesses to embrace the remote office — and accordingly, we began working on creating a remote studio. Through many months of remote shoots, we’ve worked with our clients to create a seamless system that allows everyone to feel present.
With a rigorous pre-production process that often includes mood boarding, detailed shot listing, and drawn mock-ups, you can be confident in the end product - before we even start shooting. Through your platform of choice (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, text, etc.) we send process photos as we set up, and confirm the final shot with all parties before moving on to the next shot.
But we are always happy to welcome you on set at our studio in The Bronx!
What We Offer Through the Studio
Our remote studio is located in Bronx, NY. Our studio has a wide variety of props — cups, utensils, plates, linens, bowls… you get it — and surfaces that are included in all photo shoot rates. While we are always purchase shoot-specific props and make surfaces, we have already collected an array of them to maximize options for all situations.
Equipped with a modern kitchen that has every appliance that could ever be needed to make your product perfect, we are prepared for anything!
How A Remote Shoot Runs
Every project is different, so there is no catch-all for how a remote shoot runs — but here’s a general rundown so you can know what to expect!
After the contract is signed, we officially move into pre-production. We discuss any established brand guidelines, visual directions, overall shoot goals — anything and everything that will ensure we’re all on the same page. We take this information and create a mood board that will be a visual and emotional representation of what we are envisioning. From there, we discuss any changes, nail down props and surfaces, and then begin in on the shot list.
Equipped with both a very detailed shot list and an accurate mood board, we are well on our way to the shoot itself. When more complicated ideas are on the table, we will also create mock-ups that are drawn out and as exact as possible to ensure everyone has the same thing in their heads! This is especially important when working with designers and websites.
Remote shoots need all the decision makers “present” through the entire time — that is, whoever has the final okay should be ready to approve images at any time. Any delay on your end results in a delay on our end, and we want to complete our shot list for the day without entering overtime. Extra time is padded into every shot for the approval process.
As with all of our productions, there are multiple rounds of feedback built into our shoots. So while you will already have seen all the images over the course of the shoot, there are still things that can be changed and adjusted in post-production. While we do everything on set to prevent needing this, we have the feedback rounds to make sure the final images you receive are perfect down to the last detail.
